Natural Attractions

The Region of Puno is mainly located in the Andean Plateau known as "El Altiplano." The highest navigable lake in the world is located in this territory. In the northern area of the region, the Andean Mountain Range descends dramatically until the Amazon Plains give life to one of the most pristine rain forests in the world, filled with endemic species of flora and fauna. Puno is indeed a region of natural contrasts and extremes, where locals maintain their ancient customs and practices, where respect for nature can be observed in their ceremonies and offerings to the "Pachamama" (Mother Earth).

Below we list the most important and spectacular natural reserves or zones in the Region of Puno.
