(Counties)

Located in the southeastern area of Peru, Puno is composed of 13 provinces or counties. This area of Peru, also known as "El Altiplano" (high Andean plateau), has several ecological steps ranging from 1,640 to 18,000 feet (500 to 5,500 meters) above sea level, covering an area of 66,997 square kilometers.
