(Counties)

Located in the southeastern area of Peru, Puno is composed of 13 provinces or counties. This area of Peru, also known as "El Altiplano" (high Andean plateau), has several ecological steps ranging from 1,640 to 18,000 feet (500 to 5,500 meters) above sea level, covering an area of 66,997 square kilometers. This region is home to the highest navigable lake in the world, Lake Titicaca. The Amazon Rainforest covers a portion of the region in the north.

The Region of Puno offers beautiful landscapes, the remains of ancient civilizations, diversity, and a vivid culture with ancient customs and beautiful folklore. A visit to the islands of Uros, Taquile, or Amantani will welcome you to a new world.

Province of Azangaro

Location:

Located in the center of the region, it is surrounded by the Provinces Carabaya, Huancane, Lompa, Melgar, Sandia and San Roman.
