Location: Santa Teresa District in the Province of La Convencion, Region of Cusco.

Distance from Downtown Cusco to Santa Teresa Town: 202 kilometers - 5 hours by private transportation

• Canopy (aka zipline) is an exciting activity which lets travelers enjoy the great landscape offered by the cloud forest in the Santa Teresa District, known to be the backdoor of Machu Picchu. High trees, colorful mountains, coffee plantations, and a small river give life to this small valley and add value to this awesome experience.
• A few companies offer their canopy's services. The quality of the service and ziplines available varies from operator to operator. Usually, reservations need to be made in advance. In the case of Cola de Mono, 6 ziplines cross the sides of the surrounding high hills, offering great views of the small valley and surrounding mountains (includes a 20-minute hike uphill to the first zipline) .
• The town of Santa Teresa, located in a remote area,can be reached by car from Cusco City in about 5 hours via Ollantaytambo Town. It's also accessible from Machu Picchu Town by train (a 45 minute ride) or on foot (about a 3 hour trek), and then a 30 minute car ride.
• All travelers hiking the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu will pass through the District of Santa Teresa and most likely spend . Tour companies include Canopy in their tour packages or allow sorne time to wander around in this area. This fun activity can be combined with a visit to the Cocalmayo Hot Springs.
