Location: The navigable section of the Urubamba River runs thru the districts of Pisaq and Calca in the Province of Calca, and Urquillos, Huayllabamba, Urubamba and Ollantaytambo in the Province of Urubamba, Region of Cusco

Distance from Cuseo Downtown: 46.5 kilometers - l hour and l0 minutes in private transportation

• The Urubamba River is separated in 2 sections. The lower section of the river usually starts near Urubamba Town and it offers rapids class II and III, while the upper section usually starts near Pisaq Town and it offers class III and IV rapids. The tour can be done in one or two days. The one day tour does not require previous experience during the dry season (May to October).
• In the Cities of Cusco, Urubamba and Ollantaytambo several travel agencies offer this tour but there are only a handfull of tour operators. You should always know what is the company providing the service and research about it. Best deals can be found in the City of Cusco.
• All tour operators offer rafting and safety equipment. lt is important to ask and verify that tour guides have a certification in rafting and safety practices.
• The rainy season in Cusco starts in December and lasts until March, therefore the volume of water can be increased to risky levels. In this event, departures can be canceled.
• Sun screen is needed for this tour.
