Lima is located a little west of the center of Peru. Its strategic location is one of the reasons it was chosen to be the capital of the country; it can be accessed from all regions of Peru.
Lima can be visited by air, sea, and land. It holds the only international airport welcoming travelers from all over the world. The Jorge Chavez International Airport is located in el Callao, Lima. In addition to the port of El Callao welcoming cruise ships from all over the world, it is a destination for relaxation, where travelers can spend a few days visiting the city or other regions. Lima can be accessed by road from all surrounding regions. The most traveled route (south and north) is the Panamericana.
Moving around Lima can be a challenge if you don't speak Spanish. Lima is in the process of implementing a transportation system, and the way it works is still not clear for many Peruvians. Like any other big city, Lima can be dangerous, but if the traveler is cautions and knows how to avoid the potential dangers, the trip can be both safe and as incredible as planned.

Arrivals and Departures: This airport receives flights from all the main cities in the world and Peru. All international and domestic departures and arrivals can be checked at the Jorge Chávez International Airport site.
Highlights: There are bookstores, handcraft stores, a storage room at a cost, pharmacy, Internet shop, coffee shops, and a food court, which are open to the public. The storage room is located on the first floor next to the domestic arrivals exit doors
Transportation from and to: If transportation hasn't been arranged to take the traveler to his/her accommodations, an unauthorized taxi shouldn't be hired (rate of travelers robbed is high). The only authorized company is ”Taxi Green” (The only downside is that drivers don't speak English.) There is a “Taxi Green” booth located outside the domestic and international exit doors. If pick-up is arranged through a tour company, the reliability of the provider should be triple-checked to avoid disappointments. A private ride from the airport to the districts of Miraflores or San Isidro costs $20.00 - $40.00 (depending on providers and service needed).
