Location: Cusco District, Cusco Province, and Cusco Region.

Distance from Downtown Cusco: 6,4 kilometers vio Don Bosco - 20 minutes by car; 2,2 kilometers vio Circunvalacion - 40 minutes on foot.

• Qenqo (aka Qenko), located near the Sacsayhuaman Site, occupies an area of about 3,500 squaremeters. Composed of a massive rocky formation carved in several sections with different shapes and representations of Inca deities, the site is believed to hove been used as a ceremonial temple where sacrifices were possibly offered.
• The main sections of this site are as follows: the amphitheater, where public ceremonies probably took place; the main stone, which was possibly carved into the shapes of local animals; the astronomical observatory, carved on top of the rocky formation; and the underground room with a perfectly carved altar, which was probably used for sacrifices or as a mortuary room.
• Because of all the mystery that surrounds it, this site is popular among travelers. Nobody really knows what this place was or what its purpose was, but the majority of archaeologists and researchers agree that this was a relevant site for the Incas, where religious ceremonies took place.
• Qenqo is included in the City Tour offered around Cusco, which also includes a visit to the Cathedral, the Qoricancha Temple, Sacsayhuaman, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay. The sites included in the City Tour should be included in all itineraries.
• When buying the entrance ticket, verify the number of sites you would like to visit, and based on that, purchase either the partial or the full ticket. Tickets for only this site are not available for sale.
