Provinces (Counties)

Located in the southwest of Peru,Arequipa is composed of eight provinces or counties. The Region of Arequipa has severalecological steps (9 to 6,300 meters above sea level), covering an area of 63,1345.39 square kilometers. lts long coastline is rich in plant and anima li e and has beautiful beaches. The mountains offer beautiful landscapes and two of the deepest canyons in the world (Colca Canyon and the Cotahuasi Canyon) .

The Region of Arequipa has the second-largest economy of the country along with a rich history,anexquisite regionalcuisine (sorne of the best chefs and restaurants of Peru are in Arequipa), beautiful landscapes, a wide variety of flora and fauna,an exciting night li e,and a beautiful downtown recognized as a World Heritage Site in 2000 by the UNESCO.
