Location: Acos District, Acomayo Province, and Cusco Region

Distance from Cusco Downtown: 150 kilometers - 4 hours by private transporation to get to the starting point of the trek (the trek can start from the abandoned campsite of Campi  or the Andean village of Wayqui - accesing from Acomayo - or Santa Lucia accessing from the lake of Pomacanchi).

• This archaeological site is one the less visited attractions in the region of Cusco. It is located in a remote area only accessible on foot. The hike takes place above the 13000 feet above sea level (4000 m.a.s.l.)
• This ancient site was built on top of a mountain and its shape resembles two horns. It is believed to be about 5000 years old. Waqrapukara was first occupied by the Paqarimuq Runas, but the current buildings are mainly attributed to the Incas and the Qanchis who ruled in this area prior to the Inca people).
• Private transportation is needed to get to any of the starting points of the trek (4 wheel drive vehicle is preferable). There are three main points of access to the site. Two of them are known as Campi and the Andean town of Wayqui. Both of them can be accessed from Acomayo (about 4 hours from Cusco City.) The last one is known as Santa Lucia which is accessed from the Pomacanchi lake (about 3 hours.) From any of these points a hike of about 3 hours will be needed to get to the site and another 3 hours to get back.
• This attraction is little known by Peruvians and foreigners even though it is considered one of the most interesting sites in Cusco. Landscapes in the area are breathtaking and it is a great option to spend a day in a place where only a few have been before. 

• Arranging the service of a local tour or a tour provider is needed to take part of this adventure (public transportation is not available to get to the starting point of any of the trails).
• It is highly recommended to spend a night in this site and combine this visit with the 4 lakes located in the nearby area.
