• Palcoyo is located in a remote area of Cusco and the ride from the 3S highway to the bottom of the mountain will take you through a few Andean communities.
• Palcoyo is part of a beautiful mountain range where you will truly enjoy the landscape and the Andean way of living. Travelers coming to this natural attraction should bring appropiate attire for a sunny day in a cold weather as well as sun screen, sun glasses, and a raincoat because in the Andean mountains you never know when it will rain.
• This unique mountain is a great choice for a full day excursion while in spending a few days in Cusco. This hike can be combined with a visit to the Colonial Church of Andahuaylillas where you will observe Colonial art painted in all inside walls. This piece of art represents the beliefs of the 1600s in the Americas.
• Once at the improvised parking lot, you will walk very little to observe a coloful landscape which resembles the Vinicunca mountain (the famous version of a "rainbow" mountain in Peru). Palcoyo is still little known and for that reason less people visit this site everyday. On-site there is a 2 - 3 hour circuit to reach one of the summits of a mountain and from there enjoy the view of several snowy peaks.
• Travelevers should arrange private transportation in Cusco City. You should make sure that your driver is familiar with the area and has the appropiate transportation to get there (about half of the road is in poor conditions). I would also check if the driver has a permit to circulate and insurance up to date.

• You should bring sun screen, a hat, and long sleeves to protect yourself from the extreme sun rays.
• High altitude sickness is common here so be prepared to fight it.
