Location: Santo Domingo Square, District, Province, and Region of Cusco.

Distance from Cusco Downtown: 650 meters from the Main Square - 5 minutes by foot

• At the arrival of the Spaniards to Cusco, the Qoricancha temple was probably the most important temple during the Inca period. Many of the walls of the temple were made out of stones perfectly carved, joined, and covered with a layer of gold. The land where the Qoricancha was located was assigned to Juan Pizarro, who donated it to the Santo Domingo Catholic congregation. The Church and Convent were built on top of the remains of the Inca Qoricancha Temple. Nowadays, this site exhibits the best of Inca and Colonial architectures.
• A visit to the Qoricancha and the Santo Domingo Church is usually included in the City Tour offered by the majority of tour operators and travel agencies. A visit to the Convent is usually not included, and it has to be visited at a different time.
