Location: Districts of Achoma, Cabanaconde, Callalli, Chivay, Coporaque, Huambo, Ichupampa, Lari Maca, Madrigal, Sibayo, Tuti, and  Yanque; Province of Caylloma; and Region of Arequipa.

Distance from Arequipa Downtown: 162 kilometers from Arequipa town - 4 hours.

• The canyon has a maximum depth of 3,400 meters, making it the second deepest canyon inthe world, after the Cotahuasi Canyon, also located in the Region of Arequipa.
• The Colca Canyon and Valley (including the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca) is home to 32 species of mammals and 136 species of birds.
• The Colca Canyon is the habitat of the Andean condor, the biggest flying bird in the world.
• The Colca Canyon and Valley has several small towns where locals still maintain millenary customs and practices. Their dress and festivities are quite impressive.
• The canyon can be visited by car, foot, and bike. If hiking, be prepared for a tough terrain and very cold weather. (A guide should be hired if going deep into the canyon.)
• The rainy season starts in October and ends in March - April; therefore, the Colca Canyon is more beautiful in March, April, and May.
