Distance from Lima Downtown: 272 kilometers -3 hours and45 minutes by private transportation,and 20 kilometers by boat (30 minutes)

• The Ballestas lslands are not part of the Paracas National Reserve but it is also protected by the Peruvian government. In this area the only economical activities allowed are tourism, artisanal fishing, and extraction of guano (birds excrement).
• In 2008 the Mining Peruvian Agency performed a study to determine the status of the wildlife in the coast and islands of Peru coming to the conclusion that the Ballestas lslands were home to more than 350,000 birds. The most common species of birds are Guanay, Piquero, and Pelicano.
• Daily tours are available to visit the Ballestas lslands by boat only. Several companies offer their services, but prices and the quality of the service provided can vary. The cost of a shared service tour without the entrance ticket usually starts at USD 15.00.
• On the way to the island, travelers will be able to observe "El Candelabro" which is an immense figure drew on the side of the mountain that faces the Pacific Ocean. lt is unknown who drew it and why but it is believed to be of ancient data.
