Lima Money Exchange & Banks When arriving in Peru, a traveler will need to exchange money to Peruvian currency. Prices in the majority of stores (any type of store or provider) are listed in local currency (Peruvian Soles). American Dollars are broadly accepted in stores, but when paying with dollars, stores usually exchange the money to Soles for a lower rate. (Sometimes rates are abusive.) The best place to exchange money in Lima is at a recognized Money Exchange business or a bank. (It is not recommended to exchange money on the street.) Banks pay less than a money exchange store. The site provides information and options about different Money Exchange businesses. These businesses are listed on our site upon request from the provider; their business is subject to traveler reviews and ratings. The order of the providers listed on our site is based on registration date.
