 Arequipa Provinces (Counties) Located in the southwest of Peru, Arequipa is composed of eight provinces or counties. The Region of Arequipa has several ecological steps (9 to 6,300 meters above sea level), covering an area of 63,1345.39 square kilometers. Its long coastline is rich in plant and animal life and has beautiful beaches. The mountains offer beautiful landscapes and two of the deepest canyons in the world (Colca Canyon and the Cotahuasi Canyon).
